Hi, I'm Julie Mathis.
I am married to Pete Mathis, who is also a teacher at Calhoun Community High School. We live in Union City and we have a golden retriever named Brady.
I graduated from Union City High School in 1995. From there, I started taking classes at Kellogg Community College. In 1997, I earned an Associates Degree in Arts and transfered to Western Michigan University. I spent the next five years working toward my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. In December of 2001, I graduated from Western Michigan University and started looking for a teaching position. I started substitute teaching in 1999 and continued to do so until I was hired as a Title I Aide at Harper Creek Community Schools in March 2003. I worked as a Title I Aide for the next two years at Sonoma Elementary.
In the fall of 2005, I was hired as the Title I Teacher at Wattles Park Elementary. At the beginning of the 2006 school year, I started teaching kindergarten at Wattles Park Elementary.
I am currently taking graduate classes at Western Michigan University to earn a certificate in Educational Technology.
